EFCC Nabs Alleged Billionaire Internet Fraudster in Abuja Raid.
In a daring operation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested a suspected billionaire internet fraudster and money launderer, Hyginus Nkwocha, 35, in Abuja on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Acting on a tip-off, EFCC operatives swooped in on Nkwocha’s residence at Ever Green Estate, behind Millennium Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, and apprehended him for his alleged involvement in internet fraud and money laundering.
A search of his premises yielded a staggering haul of luxury items, including:
– $2,200 in cash
– High-end smartphones: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and iPhone 13 Pro Max
– A MacBook
– Gold jewelry: chain and pendant, bracelet, and neck chain
– Three exotic cars: Mercedes Benz ML 350, Chevrolet Camaro, and a Mustang
Additionally, investigators uncovered several properties linked to Nkwocha in Lagos and Abuja, including units at Cookies Court 2, Ocean Palm Estate, and Lugbe Airport Road.
The suspect will face charges in court once investigations are complete, marking another major breakthrough in the EFCC’s crusade against internet fraud and money laundering.
The EFCC’s swift action is a testament to its unwavering commitment to tackling the scourge of internet fraud and money laundering in Nigeria.
Nkwocha’s arrest and the recovery of the luxury items and properties are a significant blow to the criminal underworld, sending a strong message that the EFCC will not tolerate such illicit activities.
As the investigation continues, the EFCC is urging anyone with information about Nkwocha’s alleged criminal activities to come forward.
The commission is also warning Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious transactions or activities to the authorities.
With this latest arrest, the EFCC has once again demonstrated its resolve to protect Nigeria’s economy and financial system from the threats of internet fraud and money laundering.
