20 Kidnapped Medical Students Freed, No Ransom Involved - Police

Police Debunk Ransom Payment Claims in Release of Kidnapped Medical Students.

The Nigerian Police Force has categorically denied paying a ransom to secure the release of the 20 medical students kidnapped in Benue State. In a statement, Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, dismissed reports of a ransom payment, saying, “Contrary to some tweets and unconfirmed stories, no money was paid to release them. They were rescued tactically and professionally.”

The students, whose kidnapping was reported by SECURITY NIGERIA on August 15, were released on Friday. However, the police have yet to provide details of the rescue operation, including whether any of the kidnappers were apprehended or neutralized.

A source close to the kidnapped students revealed that the abductors had demanded a staggering N50 million ransom. The police’s denial of a ransom payment raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the students’ release.

The police’s handling of the situation has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the students’ release. While the police have confirmed that the students were rescued tactically and professionally, the lack of details has sparked speculation about the role of ransom payments in securing their freedom.

The kidnapping of the medical students highlights the growing concern of insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the education sector. The incident has sparked calls for increased security measures to protect students and educational institutions from such attacks.

As the investigation continues, many are eagerly awaiting answers about the rescue operation and the circumstances surrounding the students’ release. The police’s transparency in this matter will be crucial in building trust and ensuring that justice is served.
