Kano Police Foil Fraud Scheme, Arrest Six Suspects
KANO POLICE NAB SIX SUSPECTED FRAUDSTERS, RECOVER FAKE CURRENCY AND ATM CARDS.
The Kano State Police Command has cracked down on a group of suspected fraudsters, arresting six individuals and recovering two ATM cards and a large sum of fake naira notes.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesperson for the command, four of the suspects were found in possession of counterfeit currency with the intention of defrauding innocent persons.
The police received a report on August 22, 2024, that two suspected scammers had swapped a resident’s UBA ATM card and fled. Detectives swiftly arrested two suspects, Yahaya Sani and Nura Dahiru, and recovered two ATM cards.
In a separate incident on August 26, 2024, police received a distress call from Shop-rite Complex in Kano, reporting individuals in possession of fake currency. Detectives arrested four suspects – Shamsu Muhammad, Lawal Shehu, Sa’ad Adamu, and Zakari AKA Logo – and recovered N241,000 in suspected counterfeit currency.
The investigation is ongoing, with all suspects in custody.
