Kidnapper’s Plea: ‘Have Mercy on Me, It Was a Mistake’ After Abducting Two Children and Collecting N1.5m Ransom
Kidnapping Suspect Who Collected N1.5m Ransom Pleads for Mercy.
A suspected kidnapper, Umar Adam, who abducted two minors in Plateau state and collected a ransom of N1.5 million, has begged the government for leniency. Adam, who was paraded alongside other suspects at the state police command on Friday, September 6, claimed it was his first time engaging in kidnapping.
According to Adam, he abducted the two teenagers, a boy and girl, and demanded a ransom of N20 million, but eventually accepted N1.5 million to release the victims. He was apprehended by residents of the NEPA community in Jos North Local Government Area last month while attempting to release the victims.
“I was on my way to hand over the victims to their relatives after collecting the ransom when I was caught,” Adam said, pleading for mercy. “This is my first time committing kidnapping. I promise I will never do it again. I beg the government to show mercy on me. It was a mistake.”
Adam’s plea comes as he faces the consequences of his actions, which have left the victims’ families traumatized. The police have yet to comment on whether Adam’s plea will be considered.
