Gusau-Funtua Highway Under Siege: Terrorists Block Road, Take Travelers Hostage

Terrorists Strike Again: Gusau-Funtua Highway Ambush Leaves Travelers Kidnapped.

In a brazen daylight attack, terrorists blocked the bustling Gusau-Funtua highway in Zamfara State on Thursday morning, abducting an unspecified number of travelers. This marks the second such incident on the same highway within a month.

According to Yezid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, the attack was confirmed during a telephone conversation with SaharaReporters. Abubakar revealed that multiple personnel have been deployed to the scene, but the exact number of kidnapped victims remains unknown.

“We are on top of the situation, and our men are working to resolve it. I will provide an update once I receive further information,” Abubakar stated.

A chilling viral video captured the aftermath of the attack, showing survivors lamenting the abduction of their fellow travelers.

This latest incident bears a striking resemblance to a similar attack on August 13, where terrorists blocked the same highway at Margazu village in Tsafe Local Government Area, kidnapping all passengers in three vehicles. The terrorists also struck near Unguwan Chida and neighboring communities, abducting passengers in five vehicles on the same day.

The recurring attacks on this major highway have raised concerns about the safety and security of travelers in the region.
