Police Nab Two Suspects with Deadly AK-47 Rifle in Bauchi

Bauchi Police Crack Down on Illegal Arms Trade, Arrest Two Suspects with AK-47 Rifle.

In a significant breakthrough, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle and ammunition in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The suspects, Abdulgafar Mohammed and Yusuf Isa, were caught by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit while attempting to sell the rifle for N580,000 at Boto Market.

According to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, spokesperson for the command, the arrests are part of the police’s unwavering efforts to combat the proliferation of small and light arms in the state. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects, who traveled from Plateau State, negotiated the sale of the rifle before being apprehended.

The police command, under the leadership of CP Auwal Musa Mohammad, has intensified efforts to locate and apprehend manufacturers of illegal weapons, regardless of their location. The command reassures the public of its commitment to eliminating illegal firearms and urges citizens to cooperate in the fight against organized crime.

The suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged to court upon completion. The police command’s swift action serves as a warning to those involved in the illegal arms trade, emphasizing the need for collective action to combat organized crime.
