Major Security Success: IPoB Commander Caught, Boko Haram Militants Eliminated
Security Agencies Score Major Wins: Top IPoB Commander Arrested, Boko Haram Terrorists Eliminated.
In a significant boost to national security, the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with the Army, Nigerian Air Force, and other security agencies has achieved major successes in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
A top security operative revealed to Vanguard that a high-profile commander of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) was arrested in Ebonyi State, while many Boko Haram fighters were eliminated in Niger State.
The IPoB commander, whose name is being withheld, was arrested on September 9, 2024, following credible intelligence on his involvement in recruiting mercenaries for attacks in Ebonyi and other South East states. The operation yielded 600 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and other dangerous weapons.
In a separate operation, security agencies neutralized Boko Haram terrorists and bandits who attacked Bassa-Kukoki village in Niger State, killing several terrorists and bandits. Unfortunately, three community members were killed by fleeing bandits.
Additionally, the DSS intercepted a wooden barge containing 37,000 liters of stolen crude oil in Delta State, arresting five suspects connected to the incident.
The security agencies’ successes demonstrate their commitment to tackling national security threats and ensuring the safety of Nigerians.
