Anambra Police Arrest 8 Suspects for Kidnapping, Cultism, Armed Robbery.
The Anambra State Police Command has cracked down on crime, arresting eight suspects for various offenses including kidnapping, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and armed robbery.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, command spokesperson, the arrests were made possible through a technology-driven investigation and joint security operations.
Two suspects, whose names were withheld, were apprehended in Nnewi for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping case reported on August 19, 2024, in Ihiala. The suspects confessed to the crime and provided valuable information to aid the investigation.
In a separate operation, five suspects – Okorie Miracle, Joshua Ifeanyi Ekwa, Aneke Okorie, Mmesoma Faithful, and Chukwuzekwu Mba – were arrested in Umunze for vandalism and possession of illegal firearms. The suspects, all males between 20-26 years old, confessed to the crime and are cooperating with the police to apprehend other gang members.
Additionally, operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) arrested Chigozie Ejikeme, 25, a suspected member of the Black Axe secret cult, after finding a locally made pistol and live ammunition on his person.
The police recovered:
– A long gun
– One locally made Barreta
– Ammunition
– A stolen vehicle
– Locally made short guns
– Vandalized electricity cables and tools
All suspects will face charges upon conclusion of the investigation.”
