Ogun Lone Crash Claims One Life, Leaves 10 Injured
Fatal Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Claims One Life, Injures 10.
A devastating lone crash on the Sapade bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has resulted in the death of one person and left 10 others with varying degrees of injury.
According to Florence Okpe, Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident occurred at approximately 2:58 p.m. on Saturday involving a white Mazda bus with registration number GGE 858 XY.
Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding, a tyre burst, and loss of control were the suspected causes of the crash.
Okpe revealed that a total of 17 people were involved in the accident, comprising 8 male adults, 7 female adults, 1 male child, and 1 female child. Tragically, one female adult lost her life, while 10 others sustained serious injuries, including 2 male adults, 6 female adults, 1 male child, and 1 female child.
The injured victims were rushed to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention, while the deceased was taken to FOS Morgue, Ipara.
In response to the incident, Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin urged motorists to exercise caution and regularly inspect their tires, checking expiration dates, tread depth, and avoiding substandard tires to prevent such tragedies.
