Fire Engulfs Oko Baba Plank Market in Lagos, Emergency Services Respond.
A devastating fire has swept through the Oko Baba plank market in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Eyewitnesses report that the blaze has spread to nearby shanties, causing widespread destruction in the area. Adedeji Olalekan, a Twitter user, described the scene as “Oko Baba Street on fire, all shanties burning.”
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident to The Punch, stating that emergency teams are actively engaged in search and rescue operations at the scene.
“The LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire Unit, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are working together to combat the fire and rescue those affected,” Okunbor said via WhatsApp.
