EFCC, FRSC FORGE STRONGER TIES IN FIGHT AGAINST ECONOMIC CRIMES.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have strengthened their collaboration in the fight against economic and financial crimes, with a focus on information sharing.
The move came as the FRSC Lagos State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Patrick Davou, paid a courtesy visit to the EFCC Lagos Zonal Command Ag.Zonal Director, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE1 Michael T. Wetkaz, on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Davou praised the EFCC’s efforts in combating fraudulent activities and highlighted the FRSC’s mandate to ensure road safety and reduce congestion. He also revealed the FRSC’s development of a software to enhance its activities and offered technical assistance to the EFCC.
Wetkas expressed gratitude for the visit and requested the FRSC’s support in information sharing, citing the agency’s robust database and technological expertise. He also decried the growing involvement of youths in cybercrimes and its reputational damage to the country.
The EFCC has made significant progress in combating cybercrimes, including investigating cases involving 100 people. Wetkas emphasized the need for collective action to stamp out the menace, warning that the future is bleak if youths pursue a life of cybercrime.
