Yahaya Bello’s EFCC Visit Blocked Over Sitting Governor’s Escort
Yahaya Bello’s EFCC Visit Hits Snag Over Protocol Breach.
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello’s attempted surrender at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on September 18 was rejected due to a breach of protocol. Bello arrived with a sitting governor and dignitaries, contravening EFCC procedures.
An anonymous commission source revealed that the Executive Chairman directed staff not to attend to Bello, citing grandeur and improper documentation. The EFCC requires invitees to come with lawyers, not governors or Politically Exposed Persons.
Bello’s team had claimed he was in EFCC custody, but the commission denied this, stating he remains wanted for alleged N80 billion misappropriation.
