Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has arrived in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79). He joins 193 other world leaders scheduled to address the General Debate, which kicked off today, September 24, and runs through September 28.

The speaker lineup includes:
– 76 Heads of State
– 4 Vice Presidents
– 2 Crown Princes
– 42 Heads of Government
– 9 Deputy Prime Ministers
– 54 Ministers
– 1 Vice Minister
– 4 Chairs of Delegation
Women in Leadership
Notably, 19 women are scheduled to speak, comprising:
– 5 Heads of State
– 1 Vice President
– 4 Heads of Government
– 9 female ministers
Nigeria’s Participation
As Nigeria’s representative, Vice President Shettima will deliver the country’s national statement and engage in high-level meetings. He was received by dignitaries including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
This significant gathering comes on the heels of Nigeria securing a $320 million investment at the UNGA.
