Lagos Drug Lord 'Temo' Sent to Prison Awaiting Trial

Lagos Drug Baron ‘Temo’ Remanded in Prison Over Alleged Trafficking.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arraigned Jimoh Sulaimon, aka Temo, before Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu on a six-count charge of membership in a drug trafficking organization.

Prosecutor Lambert Nor alleged that Sulaimon, also known as Olowoidigede, Godfather, and 001, imported, processed, trafficked, and dealt in 704 kilograms of cannabis sativa between 2020 and 2024. Nor stated that Sulaimon and four others, currently at large, operated the drug trafficking organization between Nigeria and Ghana.

Sulaimon denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Nor informed the court that four witnesses were present to testify against Sulaimon and requested his remand until the charges are resolved.

Defense counsel Chief Benson Ndakara, a former NDLEA staff member, criticized the agency’s “media trial” before the court hearing. Ndakara stated that a bail application had been filed and would be addressed later.

On Wednesday, the prosecution called four witnesses, mainly exhibits keepers and forensic experts, who provided evidence and tendered exhibits without objection from the defense. Admitted exhibits included:

– 19 bags weighing 704 kilograms of cannabis sativa
– A Camry car
– Two mobile phones
– A Fiat truck

Justice Dipeolu adjourned the trial until October 2 and 4 and ordered Sulaimon’s remand in Nigerian Correctional Services custody.
