Abuja Police Personnel Threaten October 1 Strike Over Unpaid N30,000 Allowances

Abuja Police Personnel Threaten Nationwide Strike Today Over Unpaid Allowances.

Police constables and corporals serving under the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Abuja, are frustrated and feel cheated by their command. They claim that the command has denied them the N40,000 increment approved by the Nigerian government, instead paying only N10,000. To make matters worse, they haven’t received an additional N1,000 on their salaries since January 2024, unlike their counterparts in other state commands.

Unmet Demands and Frustrations

– The police personnel are pleading with President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene, stating that their current salary of N77,000 is inadequate.
– They question why the Nigeria Police Force would retain N30,000 and pay them only N10,000, while other agencies pay their staff and personnel N40,000 irrespective of rank.
– The affected officers are tired of suffering in silence and have agreed to go on a nationwide strike starting today, October 1, 2024, if their demands aren’t met.

Calls for Intervention

The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, directed inquiries to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who hasn’t responded to calls or messages. The police personnel are seeking urgent intervention from the police authorities to resolve this issue.
