In a bold move to tackle cybercrime, the Nigerian Police Force has arraigned 123 suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, arrested from a cybercrime training centre called ‘Hustle Kingdom’ in Delta State. The suspects, aged 17-25, were apprehended at the Army Estate in Effurun and handed over to the Ekpan Police Divisional Headquarters.

Lured with Forex Trading, Trapped in Cybercrime

Some suspects were allegedly lured to the centre with promises of forex trading lessons, only to find themselves entangled in internet fraud activities. The police have deemed ‘Hustle Kingdom’ a training school for cybercrime.

Forced Recruitment Raises Questions

One suspect, Gbolahan, claimed he was coerced into joining the centre after being lured from Ibadan, Oyo State. However, police officials hinted that being forced into the group may not guarantee exoneration in court.

Prosecution Underway

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that all suspects would face charges. The police spokesman emphasized that the law will take its course, regardless of claims of coercion.
