Nigerian Police Charge Enugu Businessman with Attempted Murder, Witness Intimidation

Businessman in Court for Forcing Staff to Withdraw Suit, Faces Attempted Murder Charges.

Alleged Frame-Up: Enugu Police Commissioner Accused of Arresting, Arraigning Businessman to Force Withdrawal of Fundamental Rights Suit.

Tochukwu Nzekwe, Managing Director of Toshel Construction Ltd, was remanded in prison custody after being arraigned on trumped-up charges of promoting local war and conspiracy. The move is allegedly aimed at forcing a truck driver to withdraw a fundamental rights suit against rival company Eketeson Resources Nig Ltd and its CEO, Donald Ekete.

Nzekwe’s wife, Nkoli, claims her husband was abducted, assaulted, and extorted by policemen led by “Lion-King” and arraigned in a hasty, intimidating manner. The charges bear no connection to the original incident, sparking concerns of corruption and abuse of power.

The driver at the center of the controversy had worked for Eketeson Resources Ltd but left due to unpaid wages. His lawsuit against Ekete and the policemen has become a focal point in the dispute.

As the Enugu State government and police authorities face calls to intervene, Nzekwe’s wife appeals for her husband’s release, questioning the motives behind his arrest.
