Jigawa’s Most Wanted Criminal: Security Forces Capture Notorious Armed Robber
Notorious Armed Robber Brought to Justice in Jigawa.
In a major breakthrough, the Jigawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of Buhari Ya’u, a notorious armed robbery suspect who had been terrorizing communities across the state. Ya’u’s reign of terror came to an end on September 10, 2024, when operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) Dutse apprehended him in Benue State.
The suspect’s troubles began after a June 8, 2024, armed robbery incident that claimed the life of 40-year-old Murtala Ja’afar. A search of Ya’u’s residence by Ringim Division policemen uncovered a fabricated pistol, leading to his arrest.
During interrogation, Ya’u confessed to participating in multiple armed robberies along several major roads in Jigawa, including Jahun Gujungu, Dindibis Gamoji, and Shuwarin Kiyawa. He implicated four gang members and revealed a connection to Alhassan Idris (aka Alh Ja’o), who allegedly supplied him with two fabricated firearms for ₦450,000.
In a subsequent operation, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse arrested Alh Ja’o. Both suspects are currently in police custody, providing valuable information to aid further investigations.
This high-profile arrest is part of the Jigawa Police Command’s broader efforts to crack down on crime in the state. Recently, the command reported the arrest of ten suspected armed robbers, 25 suspected kidnappers, and phone snatchers across 27 local government areas.
