IRAN ON HIGH ALERT: Airspace SHUT DOWN Amid Fears of Israeli Payback
MISSILE STRIKE AFTERMATH: Iran Closes Airspace, Cancels Flights.
Iran’s airspace remains closed and all flights cancelled until further notice, as tensions escalate following Tuesday’s ballistic attack on Israel. The closure, initially set to end Wednesday morning, has been extended to 5 am Thursday, October 3, to ensure aviation security, according to state news agency ISNA.
This move comes after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel on Tuesday evening, targeting three Israeli air bases and the Mossad headquarters, in retaliation for the killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian general. The attack has sparked fears of Israeli retaliation, prompting Iran to take precautionary measures.
Regional Airspace Disruptions
– Israeli, Jordanian, and Iraqi airspace were temporarily closed, affecting air cargo traffic.
– Multiple airlines, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Emirates, British Airways, and Royal Jordanian Airlines, have diverted flights or made emergency landings.
– Flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut have been suspended until October 31 and November 30, respectively.
The situation has also led to a surge in oil prices, with Brent futures rising $0.83 to $74.39 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude increasing $0.88 to $70.71. As tensions continue to rise, concerns grow about potential disruptions to supply chains and air cargo operations in the region.
