Security Personnel Prevent Theft of Election Materials Ahead of Local Govt Elections in Rivers State
Rivers State Security Thwarts Election Material Heist Ahead of Local Govt Polls.
An attempted theft of sensitive electoral materials from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) office was thwarted by vigilant security personnel early Friday morning.
Masked individuals dressed in police uniforms tried to breach the commission’s premises around 1 a.m., targeting the strong room where crucial materials for Saturday’s local government election were stored.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara commended the security forces for their swift action and urged those attempting to disrupt the process to allow the state to manage its affairs without interference.
A contingent of government officials and stakeholders has been maintaining a vigil at the RSIEC facility to ensure the election’s integrity.
