_Man Who Called for Tinubu's Resignation Admitted to Mental Health Facility

Man Demands President Tinubu’s Resignation, Ends Up in Psychiatric Hospital.

A dramatic scene unfolded in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa, when 30-year-old Abdullahi Mohammed climbed a 33kv high-tension electricity pole, refusing to descend until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu resigned. The standoff lasted from Friday morning, September 27, until Saturday night, September 28, when locals convinced Mohammed to come down. He was promptly arrested by the Adamawa Police Command.

The Incident Unfolds

Mohammed, from Taraba State, chose a high-tension electricity pole along the Yola-Jalingo highway as his protest platform. Police eventually intervened, discovering hard drugs, including Indian hemp, on him. Mohammed confessed to using Indian hemp and other substances, prompting concerns about his mental health.

Psychiatric Evaluation

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that Mohammed is undergoing psychiatric tests at Yola Psychiatric Hospital. Authorities await the medical results before determining the next course of action.

Suicidal Tendencies and Legal Consequences

Nguroje labeled Mohammed’s actions as suicidal, emphasizing that attempting suicide is a criminal offense under Nigerian law. Consequently, Mohammed will face charges in court.

This incident raises questions about the intersection of mental health, substance abuse, and political activism. As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits answers on what drove Mohammed to such extreme actions.
