Panic as Hoodlums set 23 houses ablaze in Benue
A devastating attack on the Egwuma community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State has left 23 houses in ruins, with several residents sustaining gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was reportedly carried out by armed herders from Kogi State, who have been consistently invading the area.
According to Philip Ebenyakwu, Chairman of Agatu LGC, three people were injured in the attack, but fortunately, no lives were lost. The injured are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Ebenyakwu noted that the area’s proximity to Kogi State makes it vulnerable to attacks. He praised security operatives for their efforts, highlighting a recent incident where a naval officer confiscated a machine boat from invaders from Nasarawa State.
However, the Benue Police Command’s spokeswoman, SP Catherine Anene, was unavailable for comment on the matter.
