Hack Alert: Fraudsters Gain Access to Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno’s WhatsApp Number
The WhatsApp account of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been compromised by scammers, who are attempting to swindle his contacts. On Tuesday, several individuals received suspicious messages from the governor’s number, requesting financial assistance with a promise of reimbursement. However, Governor Eno’s spokesman, Ekerete Udoh, has confirmed that these messages are fraudulent and did not originate from the governor.
In a statement, Udoh warned the public to be cautious of these fake requests, emphasizing that any solicitations for funds from the governor’s WhatsApp number should be disregarded. The statement read:
“We have been made aware of a sophisticated scam on social media, where criminals have cloned Governor Eno’s WhatsApp number to deceive unsuspecting individuals. We urge the public to be vigilant and dismiss any messages seeking financial assistance as they are not genuine.
Law enforcement agencies have been notified, and efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for this malicious act.”
