High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash: Police Officer Injured Pursuing Alleged Fraudsters in Plateau
POLICE CHASE OF ALLEGED ‘YAHOO BOYS’ ENDS IN DRAMATIC CRASH IN JOS.
A high-speed pursuit of suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo boys’, ended in a dramatic crash in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday. A police vehicle from the Plateau State Command overturned while chasing a Mercedes-Benz vehicle believed to be driven by the alleged fraudsters.
A video shared on Twitter by @hope_drifter shows the police car, marked ‘DOPS Patrol-3, Plateau State Command’, overturned in Rayfield, Jos. The footage also reveals a police officer, covered in blood and clutching his injured right hand, sitting on a curb. A voice in the background confirms that the officer’s hand was broken in the accident.
Despite attempts to reach the police command’s spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, for comment, he remained unavailable, leaving many questions unanswered about the incident. The crash has raised concerns about the risks police officers take to combat crime and the need for adequate support and resources.
