Vehicle Set on Fire by Angry Mob After Fatal Accident in Ogun
Fatal Accident Sparks Mob Violence in Ogun State.
A devastating collision between a Toyota vehicle and a Bajaj motorcycle on Akarigbo Road, Sabo, Sagamu, Ogun State, on Sunday, August 18, resulted in the death of a pedestrian and sparked a violent reaction from an angry mob. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when the driver of the Toyota vehicle lost control and crashed into the motorcycle, throwing both the motorcyclist and a pedestrian into an open drainage.
The driver fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos. The motorcyclist and pedestrian sustained severe injuries, with the latter succumbing to his wounds at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.
In a fit of rage, an irate mob set the driver’s vehicle ablaze before the arrival of law enforcement and emergency services. The police have since recovered the remains of the vehicle and motorcycle, transporting them to Sagamu for further investigation.
According to Omolola Odutola, Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, “The driver’s actions sparked widespread outrage, leading to the destruction of his vehicle. Our officers are working to identify the deceased and apprehend the fleeing driver.”
