Borno Cooperatives Society Mourns Loss of Former Chief Registrar, Family in Fire Incident
TRAGEDY STRIKES IN MAIDUGURI: Family of Four Perishes in Devastating Domestic Fire.
A devastating fire outbreak occurred on Sunday morning, August 18, 2024, in Maiduguri, resulting in the tragic loss of a family of four. The victims, identified as Abubakar, his wife, and their two daughters, perished in the blaze.
According to a family source, the fire is suspected to have been sparked by an electrical surge. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with friends and acquaintances mourning the loss of the beloved family.
In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, a friend of the deceased described Abubakar as a “very humble” and “down-to-earth” individual. He recalled their recent conversation, where they discussed contemporary issues, and Abubakar invited him to visit his new home. The friend expressed his sorrow, saying, “Not knowing that was the last time I would hear his voice.”
Abubakar, a retired Chief Registrar of Cooperative Societies with the Borno State Government, had also worked with a private borehole drilling company. His friend praised his humility and kindness, saying, “A very humble and down-to-earth personality is gone, along with cherished members of his immediate family.”
The victims have since been laid to rest in Maiduguri, with the community coming together to pay their respects. The friend concluded his tribute with a prayer, saying, “May Allah admit them into Aljannah Firdausih.”
