NAVAL RAID: Operation Delta Sanity Targets Illegal Refining Site, Storage Facility in Bayelsa.
In a significant blow to oil thieves, the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso uncovered and dismantled an illegal refining site in Bayelsa state on Monday, August 19, 2024. The raid, part of Operation Delta Sanity, yielded four refining ovens laden with an unspecified quantity of illicitly refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
Further investigation led the patrol team to a storage facility in Bassambiri, Nembe Local Government Area, where they found a stash of illegally refined AGO. The Nigerian Navy personnel are now hot on the trail of the owners and operators of the illicit storage facility.
This latest success underscores the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment to combating crude oil theft and protecting the nation’s resources. The operation is a testament to the Navy’s unrelenting fight against this economic menace, and their determination to bring perpetrators to justice.
