A devastating attack on the Oba police divisional headquarters in Anambra state has left a police corporal dead and several offices razed by fire. The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, September 3, saw unknown gunmen unleash a hail of bullets and petrol bombs on the security facility, sparking a fierce inferno that engulfed parts of the station and the adjacent Oba Civic Centre.

Eyewitnesses report that the attackers’ sporadic shooting was aimed at breaching the police station’s defenses, while the petrol bombs caused widespread destruction and flames. Despite the bravery of responding police officers and the Joint Security team, who managed to extinguish the blaze, the corporal succumbed to his injuries, paying the ultimate price.
