ATBU Students Caught: Two Arrested for Housebreaking, Theft in Bauchi

Police Rescue Four, One Killed in Ekiti Kidnapping.

Two final-year students from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi have been arrested for allegedly breaking into a fellow student’s home and stealing various items. The suspects, Bamusa Mohammed Bako and Yusuf Umar (also known as Danfari), were apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command after an anonymous tip led to their capture.

According to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the police spokesperson, the students conspired to break into the residence of Raji Rabi’u, a 28-year-old Estate Management student, at around 3:00 AM on September 26, 2024. They made off with several items, including:

– 32-inch Hisense TV
– DSTV decoder
– Woofers and speakers
– Pair of shoes
– Blanket
– Prayer mat

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, stating that they intended to use the stolen items to fund their final-year project defense ¹. The police are currently investigating the matter, and the suspects will face prosecution once the inquiry is concluded.
