Bandits Attack Defence Minister’s Hometown, Kill 2, Kidnap 40
Bandits Bring Terror to Defence Minister’s Doorstep, 2 Dead, 40 Missing.
Tragedy struck in Zamfara State on Saturday night, September 28, as armed men, suspected to be bandits, attacked the hometown of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, killing two people and kidnapping 40 others, mostly women and children. The attack occurred in Janboka, a community in the Maradun local government area.
Eyewitnesses described the chaos as terrorists shot indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee. Malam Isah and a teenage boy lost their lives in the mayhem. The attack happened despite the presence of local security guards, highlighting the growing frequency of attacks in Maradun.
This incident comes just a week after terrorists released 10 abducted persons following a N10 million ransom payment. The Zamfara police spokesperson, Yazeed Abubakar, has yet to comment on the latest development.
The attack has sparked tensions between Minister Matawalle and Governor Dauda Lawal, who have traded accusations of complicity in the region’s security crisis. A court case is also underway, seeking to compel the federal government to investigate Matawalle’s alleged links to banditry.
The situation remains volatile, with concerns about the escalating violence and its impact on local communities.
