Edo Election Update: Police Arrest Two Political Thugs, Recover Firearms.

In a bold move to ensure a peaceful governorship election in Edo State, the Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected political thugs and recovered firearms during overnight raids across the state. The operation, aimed at curbing electoral violence, resulted in the apprehension of Edwin Obanor, 43, and Audu Tajudeen, 41, a Peoples Democratic Party member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko.

 Arrest Details

– Obanor, leader of an armed group, was arrested at Oredo Ward 4 around 9 pm.
– Tajudeen was apprehended in Igara Akoko on the eve of the election.
– Three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols were found on Obanor.
– One locally made gun was recovered from Tajudeen.

According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, these arrests demonstrate the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the electoral process. The police and other security agencies will not tolerate any violence or disorderliness during the election.

This development comes as a significant breakthrough in the police’s efforts to prevent electoral violence in Edo State. With the elections underway, the police are working tirelessly to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for voters.
