EFCC Launches Probe into Vessel Caught with Stolen Oil in Port Harcourt.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun investigating a vessel, “Bravo Alero”, suspected of being involved in oil theft in the Niger Delta region. The vessel, which was intercepted by the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS FORMOSSO, was found to be carrying 200 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

The Navy handed over the vessel to the EFCC for further investigation and potential prosecution. Commander M.A Gaga, representing the Commanding Officer of the Forward Operating Base, FOB, FORMOSO, expressed confidence in the EFCC’s ability to investigate and prosecute the case.

The EFCC’s Chief Superintendent, CSE Shittu Babatunde, assured the Navy of a prompt and professional investigation, pledging to work closely with the Navy to combat illegal oil bunkering in the region.

This development marks the latest effort by the EFCC to crack down on oil theft and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta, as part of its broader mission to combat economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
