EFCC Swoops on Umudike, Arrests 48 Suspected Internet Scammers

EFCC SWEEPS UMUDIKE, NABS 48 ALLEGED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS.

Umudike, Abia State – In a massive crackdown on cybercrime, operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 48 suspected internet fraudsters in Umudike on Friday, August 30, 2024.

Acting on credible intelligence, the EFCC team raided various locations in Umudike, apprehending the suspects and recovering a haul of luxury items, including 12 exotic cars, 15 high-end laptops, and 68 expensive smartphones.

The suspects, who are believed to have been involved in various forms of internet fraud, will face charges in court once investigations are complete.

This latest operation by the EFCC underscores its commitment to tackling cybercrime and bringing perpetrators to justice.

The agency’s Uyo Zonal Directorate has been at the forefront of this fight, with several successful operations in recent times.

As the EFCC continues to crack down on internet fraud, Nigerians are urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the agency.
