Ex-Governor Kwankwaso's Nephew to Face Questioning as Kano Anti-Corruption Agency Freezes N160 Million

Kano Anti-Graft Agency Cracks Down on Contract Scam, Freezes N160 Million.

In a significant move, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has secured a post no debit order on an account linked to an alleged N440 million contract scam involving local government councils in the state. The agency has blocked N160 million and is working to recover the remaining N440 million.

The scandal erupted when Bello Galadanchi, alias “Dan Bello,” alleged that the state government instructed each of the 44 local councils to pay N10 million for a drug supply contract awarded exclusively to Novomed Pharmaceuticals.

Musa Garba Kwankwaso, nephew of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and owner of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, is expected to face questioning by investigators on Thursday regarding his company’s involvement in the alleged scam.

According to sources, the contract was awarded without due process, with each local government paying N9 million monthly, totaling N396 million.

Twenty-five local governments have already made payments to the company’s account for August, prompting Governor Yusuf to distance himself from the contract and order an immediate investigation.

The PCACC’s move marks a significant step in tackling corruption in Kano State, and the outcome of the investigation is eagerly awaited.
