Ex-Rep Member Onyemaechi Released from Abductors' Den, Safe and Sound

Delta Police Confirm Release of Abducted Ex-Rep Member Joan Onyemaechi.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that Joan Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been released from captivity. Onyemaechi was kidnapped on July 30, 2024, at her church in Asaba, Delta State, after gunmen fatally shot her police orderly and driver.

In a statement to our correspondent on Saturday morning, Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed Onyemaechi’s release, saying, “Yes, she was released last night.” The news brings an end to the ordeal that began on Tuesday, July 30, when Onyemaechi was taken by her abductors.

Edafe’s confirmation marks a successful resolution to the kidnapping case, and Onyemaechi’s safe return is a welcome relief to her family, friends, and the community.”
