Force PRO Sheds Light on Police Raid on NLC Building

Police Uncover Suspect’s Hideout in NLC Building, Clarify ‘Raid’ Controversy

The Nigeria Police Force has set the record straight on the alleged invasion of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) office in Abuja, revealing that detectives had tracked a high-profile suspect to a shop within the building.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the operation was a carefully planned and legally authorized move to apprehend a foreign national implicated in a string of criminal activities across Nigeria and Africa.

Adejobi explained that the suspect had been using a rented shop in the NLC building as a front for their illicit operations, and the police had obtained the necessary warrants to conduct the operation.

Contrary to claims by the NLC that the police and DSS operatives had raided their office, arrested security guards, and stolen books and publications, Adejobi emphasized that the operation was solely focused on capturing the suspect and had no connection with the NLC or its leadership.

The police spokesperson appealed for cooperation and support from the NLC leadership, stressing that the investigation was crucial to national security and the safety of all involved.

In a clear bid to debunk the ‘raid’ controversy, Adejobi stated, “We emphasize that this operation had no connection with the NLC, its secretariat, staff, or leadership. The NLC secretariat was not the focus of the operation, which was targeted at a rented shop within the building used by the suspect as a front for his criminal activities in Nigeria.

The police operation, which was carried out with precision and professionalism, was aimed at disrupting the suspect’s criminal network and bringing them to justice. The suspect’s activities posed a significant threat to national security, and the police had to act swiftly to prevent further harm.

Adejobi assured that the police would continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the suspect is brought to book, and that justice is served. He also commended the cooperation and support of the public, which has been instrumental in helping the police to track down the suspect.

In a statement, the NLC spokesperson, Benson Upah, had alleged that the police and DSS operatives had raided their office, arrested security guards, and stolen hundreds of books and publications. However, the police have clarified that the operation was not targeted at the NLC or its leadership, but rather at a suspect using a rented shop within the building for criminal activities.

The incident has sparked a heated debate about the role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining national security, and the need for transparency and accountability in their operations. While some have commended the police for their swift action, others have raised concerns about the potential infringement on the rights of innocent citizens.

As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the police must balance the need to maintain national security with the need to protect the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
