Governor’s Aide and Wife Killed, Another Abducted in Katsina Banditry Attack
TRAGEDY STRIKES KATSINA: Gunmen Kill Governor’s Aide, Wife, and Abduct Another in Brazen Nighttime Attack.
A devastating incident has unfolded in Katsina State, where suspected bandits launched a deadly raid on the residence of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, a trusted aide to the state governor, in the early hours of Friday. Gyaza, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kankia Local Government Area, tragically lost his life in the attack, along with his wife.
The assailants, who struck with reckless abandon, also abducted Gyaza’s second wife, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in their wake. The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu promising to provide further updates.
This heinous crime comes on the heels of another disturbing incident in Benue State, where over 20 medical and dental students, as well as a House Officer, were kidnapped while en route to a conference in Enugu. The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were ambushed by gunmen in the Otukpo area of Benue State, sparking widespread concern for their safety. The abductors have demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release.
The twin incidents have sent shockwaves across the nation, highlighting the escalating insecurity and brazen criminality plaguing various regions. As authorities scramble to respond to these crises, the families and loved ones of the victims await news of their safe return.
