A brazen kidnapping incident has rocked Gauraka community, off Abuja-Kaduna expressway, in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, leaving residents reeling in fear. Suspected kidnappers raided a hotel in the early hours of Saturday, August 17, 2024, abducting seven people, including the owner, his family members, and guests.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers struck around 1 am, forcing open the hotel’s gate and firing gunshots as they fled with their victims. The security vigilante commander, Sabo Abdullahi, identified the victims as the hotel proprietor, his younger brother, wife, hotel manager, and three guests.

This latest incident marks the fifth kidnapping in Gauraka community within the past four months, with the most recent one occurring just three weeks ago. Residents are lamenting the continued attacks, revealing that the gunmen often take their victims to nearby forests and areas along the Ijah-Koro and Ijah-Gwari Road, leading to Bwari town in the FCT.
