Imam Slain, Transporter Taken Hostage as Bandits Storm Abuja Tipper Garage

Tragedy Strikes Mpape Town: Bandits Kill Imam, Abduct Transporter in Abuja Mosque Attack.

A brazen attack on a Tipper Garage mosque in Mpape town, Abuja, left one dead and another abducted on Sunday, September 22. The assault occurred around 8 p.m. as worshippers departed after evening prayers.

According to eyewitness Nasiru Ahmad, the bandits laid an ambush for Imam Ahmad Maidara as he attempted to flee through an alternate route. Maidara was fatally shot at the scene. Another garage member suffered hand injuries and received hospital treatment.

The assailants, reportedly using the nearby mountainous terrain for cover, escaped via the same route.

Comrade Hamza Muhammad, National President of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), confirmed the incident. Maidara’s body was transported to his Gwagwa town residence for burial the following day.

This incident raises concerns about escalating violence and insecurity in Abuja.
