Iran's Parliament Joins in 'Death to America' Cry Following Retaliatory Missile Attack on Israel [Video]

Tensions Escalate: Iranian Parliament Erupts in ‘Death to America’ Chants After Israel Missile Strike.

Iranian politicians sparked outrage yesterday when they chanted “Death to America” in parliament, following the country’s launch of nearly 200 missiles targeting Israeli civilian and military infrastructure. This bold move was in retaliation for the Israeli Defense Forces’ killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike on Saturday.

The synchronized chants, accompanied by fist-pumping, occurred after parliament members recited verses from the Quran. This event has escalated tensions in the Middle East, with Iran’s close ties to Hezbollah placing it directly at odds with Israel.

The airstrike that killed Nasrallah, a long-standing ally of Tehran, happened in Beirut, prompting immediate vows of retribution from Hezbollah. Iran’s subsequent missile attacks mark one of the most severe escalations in recent years, raising concerns about regional stability and potential international involvement.

Tensions between Iran and the US have reached a critical point, with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin condemning Iran’s actions as “an outrageous act of aggression.” National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan warned of “severe consequences”.

President Joe Biden confirmed that the US aided Israel in intercepting a major missile attack from Iran, launching 12 interceptors in support, and reiterated that the US is “fully supportive” of Israel.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards stated that the missile strike was retaliation for Israel’s killing of Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in July. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended the strike, calling it a “legitimate and decisive response” to Israeli aggression.

Despite Israel intercepting most of the missiles, two people were injured by shrapnel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation, stating, “Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it”.
