Kidnappers Kill 22-Year-Old Man Despite Police Rescue of Four Others in Ekiti
Tragedy struck in Ekiti State on September 22, 2024, when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers shot and killed 22-year-old Idowu Oguntuase, the driver of the Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government. The incident occurred along the Isan-Iludun Ekiti road in Ilejemeje local government area, where four other persons were abducted.
Fortunately, the police were able to rescue the four kidnapped victims alive. DSP Sunday Abutu, spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, confirmed the rescue and stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
The Ekiti State House of Assembly has also reacted to the incident, with Hon. Princess Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen, lawmaker representing Ilejemeje Constituency, bringing attention to the tragic event. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and other lawmakers expressed their condolences to the family of Idowu Oguntuase and the community .
