TRAGEDY STRIKES: Body of Slain Anambra Commissioner’s Aide, ABK Offiah, Returns to Onitsha Amidst Tears.
A somber atmosphere gripped Onitsha on Sunday as the body of ABK Offiah, a loyal aide to Anambra Commissioner for Youths Development Patrick Aghamba, was brought back home. Offiah, a lawyer and youth leader, was brutally shot dead by gunmen on the Abuja Highway while traveling with the commissioner and his wife, who were subsequently kidnapped.
The tragic incident has left the community reeling, with residents expressing their grief and shock. A video circulating on social media captured the emotional moment an ambulance arrived in Onitsha with Offiah’s corpse, sparking wails and tears from the crowd.
In a related development, Commissioner Aghamba and his wife were released by their kidnappers on Saturday night, although it remains unclear whether a ransom was paid to secure their freedom.
Offiah, who held the traditional title of Kpajiego, will be deeply missed by his community and colleagues. His senseless killing has sent shockwaves throughout the region, highlighting the growing concern of insecurity on Nigerian highways.
