Following the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has conducted a massive mop-up operation, removing compromised food and drug items valued at over N5 billion from various markets. The affected markets included Gamboru Drug and Food Market, Monday Market, Open Air-Theatre Drug Market, and Gwange Drug Market.
Mop-Up Operation Details
– The operation was led by NAFDAC’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, with officials from Borno, Yobe, Gombe, and NAFDAC’s area laboratory.
– The agency inspected and removed all compromised items to safeguard public health.
– Manufacturing facilities in flood-affected areas have been temporarily shut down for Good Manufacturing Practices reassessment.
