NDLEA Nabs Lagos Dealer Over Heroin, Loud Concealed in LED Lamps, Sofa Legs [Video]
Lagos Auto Parts Dealer Arrested for Attempting to Export Heroin and Cannabis.
In a shocking turn of events, Ejiofor Nnaemeka Chiwuzie, an auto spare parts dealer, has been apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for attempting to export heroin, loud, and cannabis to Liberia. The cleverly concealed consignments were hidden inside LED rechargeable lamps and sofa metal legs.
The Arrest
Ejiofor was arrested on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Trade Fair Complex in the Ojo area of Lagos, where he operates his auto spare parts business. The NDLEA Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest, stating that Ejiofor’s cargo, containing auto parts, rechargeable lamps, sofa metal legs, and electronics, was seized at the export shed of Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The Seizure
Upon inspection, the NDLEA discovered:
– 37 parcels of heroin weighing 1.10 kilograms
– Four blocks of loud weighing 1.20 kilograms
Foiled Drug Trafficking Attempts
In a related operation, the NDLEA thwarted attempts by drug trafficking networks to export various illicit substances to several countries, including:
– United States
– United Kingdom
– Canada
– Australia
– Thailand
– Oman
Some of the seized substances include:
– 2.3kg of loud hidden in a carton (bound for Thailand)
– 749 grams of tramadol concealed in locally made footwear (bound for Oman)
– 60 ampoules of pentazocine injection (bound for the United States)
– 200 pills of co-codamol (bound for Australia)
The NDLEA’s swift action has prevented these illicit substances from reaching their destinations, dealing a significant blow to international drug trafficking networks.
