Police Respond to Viral Photos of Terrorists Flaunting Ransom Cash, Acknowledge Limitations in Crime Fight.

The Nigeria Police Force has broken its silence on the shocking images circulating on social media, showing terrorists disguised as bandits and kidnappers, brazenly flaunting their ransom money. The photos, shared by security expert Zagazola Makama, sparked widespread outrage and raised questions about the effectiveness of the police in tackling the country’s growing insecurity.

In a statement released on Friday, Police Force Spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi conceded that not all criminals can be apprehended at once, but assured Nigerians that security agencies are making significant strides in arresting them in large numbers daily.

The viral images, which showed individuals posing with large sums of cash and weapons, were described by Makama as “balling” – a slang term for flaunting wealth. Adejobi acknowledged the photos’ authenticity and emphasized that while the police cannot arrest all criminals simultaneously, no one will go unpunished.

The police spokesman urged Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of law enforcement agencies, highlighting the daily arrests of numerous criminals. “We can’t apprehend all the criminals at once. At least appreciate us for the ones we have arrested. We arrest them on a daily basis, in large numbers,” he said.

Adejobi also emphasized the need for collective efforts and individual involvement in tackling insecurity and other vices in Nigeria. “One thing is sure, no criminal will go unpunished,” he assured.

The police response comes as the country grapples with escalating insecurity, including kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism. The viral photos have reignited calls for improved security measures and greater accountability from the government.

Another image shows that the currency notes were arranged on a floor.

Zagazola had written, “They are now posing with the ransom money. Showing that they are balling.”
