Nigerian Army Vows to Recover Stolen Arms, Equipment After Okuama Massacre

Nigerian Army Vows to Recover Stolen Arms, Equipment After Okuama Massacre.

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to recovering military equipment and arms stolen during the brutal murder of its personnel in Okuama community, Delta State. Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division, made this declaration at the inauguration of a newly remodelled transit accommodation for soldiers at the 3 Battalion, Effurun.

The facility, donated by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), a private pipeline surveillance company owned by former militant Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), features 68 rooms, 18 toilets and bathrooms, and three central kitchens.

During his address, Abdussalam reflected on the tragic events of March 14, 2024, in Okuama, where 17 military personnel were killed, and reiterated the Army’s determination to retrieve the stolen equipment and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We will not rest until our equipment and arms are recovered,” he assured.

The GOC praised the project, saying it addresses critical needs of troops and highlights the impact of corporate social responsibility.

The Nigerian Army has been working to recover the stolen equipment and bring those responsible to justice since the incident in March.

The inauguration of the transit accommodation comes as a welcome relief to the soldiers, who have been operating in challenging conditions. The facility is expected to boost morale and enhance the operational effectiveness of the troops.

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the company behind the donation, has been working closely with the Nigerian Army to support its operations. The company’s owner, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, is a former militant who has since embraced peace and now contributes to the country’s security efforts.

The partnership between the Nigerian Army and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited is seen as a model for corporate social responsibility and a testament to the power of collaboration in achieving common goals.

As the Nigerian Army continues to grapple with the challenges of recovering stolen equipment and bringing perpetrators to justice, the inauguration of the transit accommodation serves as a reminder of the progress being made and the commitment of stakeholders to supporting the country’s security efforts.
