The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army has launched a robust operation to combat rising criminal activities in Lagos and Ogun states. Acting on credible intelligence, troops conducted a series of successful operations, resulting in multiple arrests linked to kidnapping, theft, and vandalism.
Key Arrests
– Usman Abubakar, a 27-year-old suspected kidnapper from Kebbi State, was apprehended while traveling from Benin to Epe, Lagos, and has been transferred to Benin for further investigation.
– Uche Kehinde Akwari, 32, was caught stealing building materials at Elegushi Beach in Lagos.
– A group of nine suspects from Katsina State, aged 18-22, were arrested at Bonny Cantonment Mammy Market for vandalizing and stealing equipment from the NNPC Atlas Curve Company. The suspects have been handed over to relevant security agencies for further inquiry.
Operations and Collaborations
The operations, which involved foot and vehicle patrols, demonstrate the 81 Division’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in its Area of Responsibility. General Officer Commanding, Maj.-Gen. Farouk Mijinyawa, commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication, expressing gratitude to the public for their support.
Mijinyawa encouraged continued collaboration in providing intelligence to thwart criminal activities, stating, “The troops will remain vigilant in their efforts to ensure a safer environment for all residents of Lagos and Ogun states.
