Nigeria's Air Force Gets Major Upgrade with 12 New Fighter Jets

Nigerian Air Force Bolsters Fight Against Insurgency with 12 New Aircraft.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has received 12 aircraft to enhance its combat capabilities against banditry and insurgency. Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, made the announcement at the graduation ceremony of the War College Course 10/2024 in Makurdi.

The new fleet includes:

– 4 Diamond Surveillance Aircraft
– 2 Kings Air 360 Light Transport Aircraft
– 4 T129 ATAK Helicopters
– 2 Agusta Westland 109 Trekker

Additional aircraft are expected from Italy, Spain, and the US, including 24 XM-346 fighter jets and 10 Agusta Westland 109 Trekker Helicopters.

The graduation marked a significant milestone for NAF, with Minister of Defence Muhammed Abubakar acknowledging the War College’s contributions to human capacity development in the Armed Forces.

The NAF’s focus on human capital development and operational effectiveness has strengthened its role in preserving Nigeria’s territorial integrity and enhancing internal security.
