Northeast Security Summit: DSS Directors Converge in Bauchi

Northeast Nigeria’s Department of State Security Services (DSS) directors have gathered in Bauchi state to tackle the region’s escalating security threats and find lasting solutions. The 17th Quarterly regional conference, led by North-East SDS chairman Sani Bakori, aims to address terrorism, Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping, and communal conflicts that have caused devastating loss of lives and displaced millions.

Bakori emphasized the need for collaboration, innovation, and determination to build a safer and more secure north-east Nigeria. The conference will focus on strengthening community resilience and community policing, strategic collaboration, and partnerships with stakeholders to address the root causes of these challenges.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by Deputy Auwal Jatau, praised the DSS’s critical role in maintaining peace and stability, particularly in intelligence gathering. He stressed the importance of security agencies staying informed and proactive in combating emerging threats.

Key Areas of Focus:

Strengthening Community Resilience: Building stronger, more secure communities through collaborative efforts.
Community Policing: Enhancing local law enforcement’s capacity to address security concerns.
Strategic Collaboration: Fostering partnerships among security agencies and stakeholders.
Addressing Root Causes: Identifying and tackling the underlying factors driving insecurity.

The conference demonstrates the DSS’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian communities in the face of complex and evolving challenges.
