Police Arrested Libyan Driver For Smuggling Of Six Nigerian Women
On Tuesday, a routine police patrol in the Bishr area led to the interception of a vehicle and the arrest of a Libyan driver who was attempting to smuggle six undocumented female migrants from Nigeria. The driver, suspected of human trafficking, tried to deceive the authorities by claiming that the Nigerian nationals were his family members. However, the police were not convinced, and the driver was detained.
Migrant Rescue Watch, an organization that closely monitors migrant activities, reported the incident on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). According to their report, the driver’s false claim was an attempt to evade arrest and avoid accountability for his actions.
The police have transferred all individuals involved, including the driver and the six Nigerian migrants, to the Bishr Police Department for further legal action. The authorities are currently investigating the case, and it is likely that the driver will face charges related to human trafficking.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking and migrant smuggling in the region. The police and other authorities are working to combat these crimes and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
